DokuWiki: Changing Structure

You can easily move a page to a different (existing) topic using the pagemove plugin:

1. Navigate to the page you want to move
2. Click the Admin link
3. Click the Page Move/Rename link under Additional Plugins
4. Select the new Namespace (topic) from the hierarchy drop-down and change the name if required
5. Click Submit

The PageMove plugin automatically updates any backlinks to the moved page from other pages, however it does pay to check!

If you need to create a new parent topic the process is a little more involved. To avoid Unix permissions problems, the best way to create the new folder is to use the eXtplorer component in the Joomla back end of the website. Then use the procedure above to move the page to the new folder. If the original folder becomes empty as a result, use eXtplorer again to remove it.
