At the time of writing Grain Trader SMS messaging supports only Red Oxygen as the third-party provider, so the following instructions reflect that.
There are two aspects to configuring your Grain Trader system for SMS messaging.
The first is the Provider configuration which relates to your account with the third-party provider.
Secondly, individual users need to be set to allow access to SMS messaging. Each authorised user has their own SMS password, linked to their own email address. This allows Red Oxygen to return replies sent by message recipients to the user who sent the message, via email. It also allows a measure of auditability and accountability. In this context we are talking about Grain Trader users, ie when the program is run and the user is prompted to login:
not the user's Windows login.
All the configuration for both aspects is done from the Global Options window.
Select the SMS Messaging branch on the Global Options window:
To enable SMS messaging functionality, first tick the Enable SMS functionality checkbox, which will display the other options as shown on the above screen capture, automatically populated with their default values as appropriate for your business.
Enter your Provider Account ID in the space provided.
Red Oxygen accounts can at extra cost be assigned to a fixed (sending) number and messages automatically carry your business name. If you have selected this Red Oxygen option you may not need your Company Name in the message body, so you could uncheck the Grain Trader option Add Company Name to message body. If you have not selected the Red Oxygen option you should leave this Grain Trader option checked and include your Company Name in the message body in order to comply with the SPAM Act 2003 as outlined in Prerequisites For SMS Messaging.
Most users will not need to enter Internet Proxy settings, however if required consult your IT service providers for details.
Click Apply to save the changes but leave the Global Options window open so that you can configure Users as described below.
Select the Users branch on the Global Options window. Expand the options for each user whom you wish to allow access to SMS messaging and tick the option User can send SMS messages:
This expands the options to allow entry of the user's Email address and SMS password. The latter is set to a default value when the user's Red Oxygen account is set up but can be changed from the account's Administrative login on the Red Oxygen website.
Please contact us for assistance in setting up your Red Oxygen account and users.
Click OK when finished.
